Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.
The features in this data set shows the location of Bureau of Land Management and National Forest lands affected by the mineral withdrawal. It also includes some Arizona State and private lands which are non-federal estate lands and therefore not subject to the withdrawal .
The data was created at the request of the Bureau of Land Management Arizona State Office to identify lands to be segregated from mineral location and entry under the Mining Law of 1872 by a Department of Interior withdrawal.

This data should not be used at a scale larger than 1:24,000. The data and corresponding attributes are only as accurate as the source maps from which they were obtained, and may vary depending on the data and method of acquisition. This data is suitable for regional planning, management decision support at intermediate scales (i.e. 1:24,000 or smaller), and cartographic purposes. The data is not suitable for analysis at scales larger than 1:24,000. If the Receiving Agency (RA) has modified the data in any way, they are obligated to describe the types of modifications they have performed on hardcopy maps utilizing the data. RA specifically agrees not to misrepresent Arizona BLM datasets or to imply that any changes made were approved by BLM. Feature attributes were taken from source material. Code assignments are believed to be representative of the source document.
Data was reviewed for correct topological structure. Duplicate lines have been removed.
An accuracy report was not available from Kaibab National Forest who were the originators, but since then modifications have been made by the BLM Arizona Strip District to improve horizontal accuracy.
The boundary of the withdrawal was obtained from the U.S. Forest Service, Southwestern Region, Kaibab National Forest GIS Staff they created in response to the Grand Canyon Water Sheds Protection Act of 2008 - House Resolution 5583 (HR 5583). Revisions were made by BLM Arizona Strip GIS Staff to include certain Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands contiguous with the Grand Canyon Game Preserve and open to mining location that were excluded by HR 5583.

Due to mistakes found along the Grand Canyon Game Preserve boundary, withdrawal boundary was altered along Townships 36N and 35N at Range 5W and 4W. Acreages were re-calculated using XTools Pro.
The Kanab Plateau & House Rock Valley polygons were vertically integrated with GCDB. Where the boundary ran along the Grand Canyon National Park and Arizona Strip District boundaries, the lines were swapped with the appropriate boundaries. Acreages were re-calculated using XTools Pro.
The Tusayan Ranger District (south parcel) polygons were vertically integrated with GCDB. Acreages were re-calculated using XTools Pro.
Dataset was transferred to SWCA Environmental Consultants. Boundaries were modified based off of the final legal description for each withdrawal alternative.
Dataset was transferred back into Arizona Strip District possession for final clean up and acreage calculations.
