Description:
Abstract:
The features in this data set shows the location of Bureau of Land Management and National Forest lands affected by the mineral withdrawal.  It also includes some Arizona State and private lands which are non-federal estate lands and therefore not subject to the withdrawal .

Purpose:
The data was created at the request of the Bureau of Land Management Arizona State Office to identify lands to be segregated from mineral location and entry under the Mining Law of 1872 by a Department of Interior withdrawal.

The boundary of the withdrawal was obtained from the U.S. Forest Service, Southwestern Region, Kaibab National Forest GIS Staff they created in response to the Grand Canyon Water Sheds Protection Act of 2008 - House Resolution 5583 (HR 5583). Revisions were made by BLM Arizona Strip GIS Staff to include certain Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands contiguous with the Grand Canyon Game Preserve and open to mining location that were excluded by HR 5583.
